This article details the email authentication (i.e., sender authentication) process for site admins who wish to use a custom domain managed by a third-party provider (Network Solutions, GoDaddy, etc.) when sending outgoing emails from Registration Tech.
Why should I complete Email Authentication?
Google has announced that beginning in February 2024, they will be introducing new security requirements for bulk email senders, specifically, those who submit more than 5000 emails daily to the Gmail.com domain. Shortly after, Yahoo also announced similar security measures will be required for their services as well. These new security requirements are intended to strengthen best practices, help protect against spoofing, and help prevent messages from being marked as spam.
Completing sender authentication takes just a few easy steps to prevent disrupted communications by ensuring email deliverability.
Complete Email Authentication in Registration Tech
Follow the steps listed below to successfully perform sender authentication and validate your custom domain:
- Navigate to Event ➔ Emails ➔ Settings
- See that the current default from email and email from name are set to noreply@gtrnow.com and GTR Event Technology. These can always be used by default and need no additional setup or validation.
To make a change, change the email from address and email from name and click save.

You will then be asked to verify if you want to send requests to change, click Send Request to move forward

You will then see the values that you need to update in your DNS provider to install and complete the verification process

- Once you have updated these values in your DNS provider you can then refresh to see the Status for each CNAME change to Valid.
- Once valid the email from address and from name can be used. Save and deploy live these changes to use.

How do I install the DNS records with my domain name provider?

In addition, you can consult the help documentation below to learn more about managing DNS records with several popular domain providers:
Do I have to validate this email from address and name on every event in my company?
No, once it is validated once it can be used on any event in the same company. You will need to update the from email and from name in Settings of Emails of each event you want to use it on, but the verification step is already taken care of and you can immediately save and deploy live.
Do I have to validate the email from address if I am changing the username before the @ sign in my email? Example: I have validated events@test.com but want to also use corpevents@test.com
Yes. You will need to validate this change as well to be able to use.
If I am only changing the email from name and not the address do I have to validate?
No. Email from name can be changed without validation.
What if I start the process of validation and need to come back later?
You can always go ahead and start the process. When you come back later, you will just need to re-input in the email from address and name you were trying to change and save. It will reload the modal to show you the changes that need to be made, or if you made the changes and wanted to come back later to see if they propagated, if they have propagated it will immediately let you save and let you know validation is complete. If they have not, it will show you what still needs to be updated.
What if I am experiencing bouncebacks or emails going to spam?
- Your first check should be to see if your SPF record entry is valid. You can test your domain using an online validation tool such as this one: https://www.kitterman.com/spf/validate.html .
- Bounce notification emails typically include a short message detailing the reason that the receiving server rejected the message. This may include the email address not being valid, or other policies on the receiving server that are causing your messages to be filtered out. While you can't control these behaviors on your recipients' servers, your recipients can ask their IT or email admins to safelist your organization's emails if they want to receive them. So we encourage you to contact the clients whose domains are bouncing those emails back and see if they can safelist communications from your domain
